Why milk?
Here is a list of high-calcium foods.
You need four servings a day of the following:
One serving is 1 cup of:
- Nonfat or low fat milk
- Nonfat or low fat chocolate milk
- Nonfat or low fat yogurt
- Whole milk
- Milkshake
- Pudding or custard
- Calcium-fortified orange juice
One serving is also 1½ ounces of:
- Cheddar, Monterey Jack or other
hard cheese
- String cheese or mozzarella cheese
- Parmesan cheese
- Soft cheese
- Cream cheese
One serving is also 1½ cups of:
- Cottage cheese
- Frozen yogurt
- Ice cream
- Cheese sauce

Tips to get your calcium the easy
way
- Drink milk at meals instead of juice or soda
- Try a breakfast blender smoothie of frozen or fresh
fruit, yogurt and milk.
- Add melted cheese or cream cheese
to your bagel or toast
- Pack string cheese for lunch
- Add cheese to your
hamburger
- Drink a milkshake instead of a soda
